She presented her doctoral findings on facilitating a sense of belonging among refugee newcomers. This interactive webinar series is meant to meet the needs of educators in the field who are supporting the successful integration of refugee students into schools.

Janet Caryk and Joti Brar-Josan had the privilege of guest lecturing for EDPY 532: Systems of Counselling (University of Alberta) on March 20, 2017. This course is offered to first year Masters students in the Department of Educational Psychology. The course objective is to introduce the major theories used in counselling. Janet Caryk and Joti Brar-Josan presented on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and provided information on the history of CBT, theory, application for anxiety disorders, and presented case examples.

Wendy Salvisberg, eating disorders specialist, from the Centre for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy provided a workshop on body image at the Strathcona Synatics Capital City Figures Meet. This interactive presentation provided swimmers with information on how to boost their own and others’ body image, the importance of body acceptance, and how to become more media literate.

The Centre for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy provided an introductory presentation on mood and anxiety disorders to two groups of junior high students. This interactive presentation oriented students to the prevalence, cause, and treatment of depression and anxiety disorders.

The Centre for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy was fortunate to present to doctoral students enrolled in the Educational Psychology Child/Adolescent Therapy and Intervention course (EDPY 643). Students were provided with a 3 hour lecture on the CBT treatment model of Anxiety disorders.
